Evidence of glass working was found at the site. The beads are blue with a white wave pattern. The Temple of Al-Lat (Arabic: معبد اللات‎), was an ancient temple located in Palmyra, Syria dedicated to the goddess Al-Lat. The temple was dedicated c. 123–164 A.D. The cult statue was made with an appearance similar to statues of the Greek goddess Athena in Athens. Inside the compound, a giant lion relief (Lion of Al-lāt) was excavated and, in its original form, was a relief protruding from the temple compound’s wall. A small, limestone figure of the soldier Sa-Djehuty son of Sat-Djehuty from the ancient Egyptian site of Abydos. Excavated by John Garstang in 1908, the statuette was found in tomb 643. It likely dates to the Second Intermediate Period. Measuring just under 20cm, Sa-Djehuty wears a heavy wig and a kilt with a plain belt. Prior to excavation, the figure was broken and has now been repaired. The appearance of the two parts is noticeably different, with the upper half appearing bleached, while the lower half bears extensive traces of paint around the bands of hieroglyphs. Red paint is visible on the legs and torso. The text reads “An offering which the King gives to Osiris for the ka of the living one of the town, Sa-Djehuty, born of Sat-Djehuty, by his sister who causes that his name live, the lady of the house, Beki. Snape (1994) suggests that the kilt is indicative of a military procession, read more here. After the discovery of the universally unique gladiator school, measurements were taken around the excavated amphitheater of the civil town and the subsequent results revealed an entire city area complete with the necessary infrastructure for the gladiatorial games. The route to the spectacles led the people through the city gates past taverns (tabernae), souvenir shops and food vendors (thermopolia), where street merchants offered their goods for sale and invited the public to linger. Behind one of the taverns, the LBI ArchPro specialists discovered a storage building (horreum) and a large oven, where bread was baked for up to 13,000 spectators. The wine and other foodstuffs were stored in underground cellars.
