If there is one essential monument in Vigo, that’s the monument to Jules Verne (42.241217, -8.722885). The great writer devoted a chapter to “The Bay of Vigo” in one of his most famous books, 20,000 Leagues under the Sea, fuelling the legend of the Rande treasure with the adventures of its popular main character, Captain Nemo, and his famous Nautilus. Jules Verne even came to visit the city some time after writing the novel, so in his honour and on the centenary of his death (2005), the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Pontevedra commissioned this bronze sculpture from local artist José Molares and donated it to the city. Since then, the writer has been sitting on the tentacles of a giant squid in the Avenidas, next to the Montero Ríos gardens. Ingame, it is fully animated and has a colour mask, so it can be tinted to any colour. It also comes with a Bodygroup of a Glider, that will be utilized in an upcoming Kart racing gamemode. This model was Commissioned for a Gmod gamemode that will be released in the future! By importing a default gmod character model, and applying the “driving” animation, i was possible to model the vehicle directly to fit the player models, allowing it to work surprisingly well with the default animations. The seating position was modified by tilting it backwards by about 12 degrees, allowing an overall lower profile, a little hack I was very glad to see working! Somewhat unrealistic for a kart to have full suspension, but was needed to fit the Source vehicle animations. And yes, it’s electric! Euromus (Greek: Εὔρωμος) – also, Eunomus and Eunomos; earlier Kyromus and Hyromus – was an ancient city in Caria, Anatolia; the ruins are approximately 4 km southeast of Selimiye and 12 km northwest of Milas (the ancient Mylasa), Muğla Province, Turkey. Probably dating from the 6th century BC, Euromus was a member of the Chrysaorian League during Seleucid times. Euromus also minted its own coins from the 2nd century BC to the 2nd century AD.
