When I saw that Sketchfab is hosting weekly challenges, I immediately knew I had to participate since I’m struggling getting projects done and instead work on them for what feels like centuries. For the topic “Heart” I was thinking about some sort of “modern” Cupid and decided to create a new tool instead of the classic bow and arrow. For guns I find the design of revolvers very interesting, so I went with that. My version of Cupid is a highschool girl who works as Cupid as a part-time job and uses this (obviously non-lethal) gun to make people fall in love. Because she is quite young, I chose bright blue and pink colors, decorated the grips with doodles and added hearts in various ways. Got together with a bunch of my buddies one morning and we all took tons of photos (1780) while another friend flew a drone over and around the arch to get the above photos (another 1739). Here’s a screengrab that shows all the camera angles we captured, including the drone shots: The arch is over 24 meters (80 feet) tall and it’s right in the middle of a high traffic intersection, so it presents many challenges, and I’m not even talking about all the trees around it. It’s my first large-scale scan and I hit so many walls with getting it to come out well, largely because ZBrush has a 50 million polygon limit. Anyway, this is the first of many. Nefertiti’s face fidelity and bands around the body were the main challenges I had to face. I took references from the iconic Nefertiti bust from Egyptian Museum of Berlin, in order to replicate the exact face and crowned head shapes. Since academy contest was about Aliens Vs Undeads, I turned her face in a limestone piece as suggested from the official AC Origins DLC cover instead of her golden mask just like appears in the game. I learned a lot from this exercise and understood where I have to improve for the next challenges. Any type of suggestion and/or critique are appreciated!
