3D scan of a skull and mandible of the mosasaurid Platecarpus coryphaeus. He was an aquatic predator during the late Cretaceous, living about 81–85 million years ago. Mosasaurids are members of the order Squamata and are therefore relatives of lizards and snakes. Fossils of Platecarpus are found predominantly in North America, but were perhaps also occurring in Europe, Africa & New Zealand. This skull of Platecarpus coryphaeus will be on display in the upcoming exhibition “CineSaurs" that opens on October 19, 2021 at the NHM Vienna. In photogrammetry there’s balance between large f-stop and shutter speed. I think the long shutter speed blew out the ends of the feathers. Well, that and they’re translucent....
Feathers are tough.

3D scan of a tuatara (Sphenodon punctatus), a lizard that lives on small islands off the coast of New Zealand. The tuatara has a strong, stocky body. The neck, back and tail bear a crest of long scales. The animals reach a total length of 65 to 75 cm and are crepuscular and nocturnal.
This specimen is Number 68 of the NHM Top 100 and can be found in Hall 27 of the Natural History Museum Vienna.
