The island of Rapa Nui or Easter island is believed to have been first settled in the 1200's by polynesian voyagers. Synagóga bola postavená v rokoch 1923-25 na mieste staršej budovy v maurskom štýle z roku 1863. Autorom projektu bol maďarský architekt Lipót Baumhorn. Vysvätená bola 8.9.1925. Zaradili ju medzi najväčšie synagógy v Európe.
