Ever since working on my other Mercedes Benz concepts, I’ve been working on this one in the background. One where the aesthetic of the vehicle is literally derived from the 3 pointed star of the MB emblem. What you see here is a future formula 1 type race car, where the backbone architecture of the vehicle grows from the the planes described by the points of the star logo. Asymmetrical driver position. My submission for a past Sketchwars theme: redo a classic…
My thought is that something went astray with the Thunderbird between 1963 and 1967. My 3D sketch is a proposal for a different aesthetic bridge between the lovely 1963 body style and the somewhat radical departure of 1967. This took 4 hours to do, completely done in 3D while immersed in VR using Gravity Sketch. I had 2D reference pictures in the scene, but all the ideation of the forms was done in 3D.
This is a non-traditional medium (skipping 2D) so I did a bunch of tweaking with post process effects to give it a more grainy textured paper/punchy colors/rendered look … minus the dabs of white gouache for highlights!

Another character of my Oxymoron Project
This is a personal project I named Oxymoron Project. It consists of three main character which are contradictory. The project started when I heard by the very first time the meaning of oxymoron, a figure of speech in which apparently contradictory terms appear in conjunction. The first concept was only on my head 8 years ago,and now they are in 3D. The first oxymoron example was cold fire and that’s how I imagined a cute flame character with cold. Then I include more characters like this one.
