My take on a conceptual reboot of the mighty Mercedes Benz SLS AMG “Gullwing”. Had fun detailing the grille and headlights on this one. Aesthetic attempts to capture the allure of the original 300SL, with pronounced fender haunches… combined with pushing the current MB family design cues. A re-make of the classic BMW 2002, this future version is an electric, semi-autonomous vehicle. The “waterline” band is now where the sensors reside, and you won’t find any exhaust pipe! In terms of modeling, the overall model consists of 3 nurbs patches (roof, glass, and the body). Ever since working on my other Mercedes Benz concepts, I’ve been working on this one in the background. One where the aesthetic of the vehicle is literally derived from the 3 pointed star of the MB emblem. What you see here is a future formula 1 type race car, where the backbone architecture of the vehicle grows from the the planes described by the points of the star logo. Asymmetrical driver position.
