This is a 3D model of a cast of the Terme Ruler, an ancient bronze statue in the Museo Nazionale Palazzo Massimo in Rome. The cast is made of plaster and is in Statens Musueum for Kunst in Copenhagen, Denmark. The Terme Ruler depicts a man with a disproportionately muscular body, especially when compared to its more modestly shaped head. Estimations date this statue to near the 2nd century BCE, comparing it to the Terme Boxer, particularly in hair style. This model has been made in Zbrush with textures added in Substance Painter. The model is based on a find at Broughton Roman villa during a Time Team excavation. The find was very corroded as you would expect and I wondered what it might have looked like when in use. I have used images of other similar coins for reference and created this model showing how it might have looked - with perhaps a bit of wear.
