This was such a cool project to work on. I made this project based on the concept art from Kyle Corneliushttps://www.artstation.com/artwork/5l2Kz. Everything has a first time well this project was a lot of first times. This is my first time working in zbrush I always wanted to learn how to sculpt and work it down to a useable game ready creature. After making the high poly in zbrush I went to Maya for the retopo this was also a first for me so learned to work with the quad draw tool. When the low poly was done I uv unwrapped in Maya and textured in substance painter. I went back to zbrush for the posing. So this is a little experiment I’ve been contemplating on, inspired by the food assets in Monster Hunter and Final Fantasy 15.
I took photographs of an actual meal I cooked, and spliced them in Substance Painter with a few models I specially built from reference.
Nasi Lemak is a traditional Indonesian/Malaysian dish, consisting of spiced rice, coconut milk/shavings, a portion of meat (chicken) and fresh prawns, sometimes accompanied by a fried egg.
The hardest part was translating the lighting from Substance Painter to Unreal Engine, and I have recreated it as best as I can here in sketchfab.
