The 3D reconstruction was made by using historical block patterns, 2D scans of textile materials and 3d scans of contemporary actors. Crabs were important motifs in Cotzumalhuapa art. The flat upper surface of Palo Verde Monument 4 suggests that this sculpture may have functioned as a seat or altar. The claws and legs of a crab are combined with the head of a mythical reptile. Palo Verde was an important center in the Cotzumalhuapa hinterlands and boasts a magnificent set of monumental sculptures. Currently in the El Baúl Museum.
