Here's Kong from Godzilla vs Kong with his epic axe! The original model was taken from the Rampage George model but edited differently to make it look like Kong. The axe has a mix of the dorsal plates from the Godzilla 2021 model to make the axe look accurate to the movie. This is just something I created for fun in my free time since actual 2021 Kong models are almost nowhere to be found. This project feels like the reimaging of two separate projects I’ve done in the past. Mountain top castle, and lighthouse island. Both projects that at the time I was pleased with, but looking back on I felt weren’t my best.
I liked their premises a lot so I went ahead and merged the two together. Thus Castle Island was born!
Now for this scene, I did something I don’t often do when It comes to modelling scenes. I purchased pre-existing work. I know! Crazy, but I was having a strange amount of trouble modelling grass, I couldn’t get anything that looked “grass” you know?
I found an awesome little collection pack of low poly natural and organic models. Something I do tend to struggle with making so I was in awe that I found something that fit my style and could be a great leg up in terms of things I struggle with. Definitely going to see if I can leverage these assets in the future. This specimen of the rare African bird comes from the Bahr el Ghazal estuary in Sudan and was donated to the NHM Vienna in 1913.
The Shoebill is Number 76 of the NHM Top 100 and can be found in Hall 30 of the NHM Vienna.
