Hi all!
This is a project I’ve been working on for around a week and a half. I was set a project by my University to create a “well” in any style. I’ve always loved how stylized/hand-painted assets look in games such as World of Warcraft, League of Legends etc. So I wanted to take it upon myself to attempt this style. I’m overall happy with the final design, although if I were to spend more time on it, there are a few things I would refine. Turns out it’s not that hard to achieve an authentic handpainted look. I’ve done a ton of researching and studying, and I’ve found a style that seems to really work when creating 3d ghibli-style scenes using Substance Painter. These techniques can be applied to basically any project. I’m really looking forward to improving the process later on this month. This is going to be an ongoing series where I explore different texturing techniques you can use to achieve an anime aesthetic, so make sure to sign up before the price goes up!
