This time I wanted to make something from an actual concept instead of a real object. I took a lot of inspiration from the modeling and texturing techniques of games like Fortnite, Overwatch and other stylized game. I'd say stylized is not my strength, but I wanted to try it! I also managed to rig it and try animating for the first time to give it some spice! I'm very happy with how it came out at the end, knowing I can constantly improve on essential aspects such as texturing and modeling. I want to take the time to thank Leonardo Raponi, Claudio Tumiati, Andrea Orioli, Ilaria Troullier, Alberto Casu, Marco Vergantini and everyone in the “TheScostumati" Discord server who have helped me with various aspects during the making of this project such as modeling, texturing, rigging and animation. This is a small project in which my goal was to resaerch and try to reach a photorealistic 3D model, there are many gaps such as the crazy amount of materials which is totally useless and i still don’t understand how it happened and the bad optimisation of some of the packs, i combined in this small scene a low poly one (the opened pack) with high poly ones.

Fan-art from the game Final Fantasy 7!! This is the Cosmo Canyon, one of the cities that can be visited through the game. It was a comission where I was asked to made an stylized and simplified version of the place, and this is how it turned out!
I decided to push the limit of Sketchfab’s capabilities, and added a day-night cycle to the scene. It was a bit tricky, as lamps can’t be animated, at least for now. But I think this works quite nicely. I hope you like it! :D

Originally a much simpler asset, I began creating this model in Blender as a simple exercise before deciding to take the project further by improving the geometry, texturing and overall design of the asset. This included adding barbwire which initially was easy to make, but became extremely tedious when implementing changes and so I created a custom generator tool to improve iteration time and with considerably more accuracy. This was then baked in Marmoset and later textured in Substance Painter, using two materials with 4K texture sheet (using overlapping UVs to maximise quality) and a non-destructive workflow for fast iteration, then finally rendered in Marmoset Toolbag 3.
