The “Famos” hotel with a total of 186 beds is built on the southern side of mount Kučiština, within the Babin Dol recreational center. Jovandić have attempted to orientate the building towards the future central square, thus the compliance of the building configuration with it as a primary parameter, as well as in the direction of the summit of Kučiština where the sports and recreational grounds of this complex are located. Three levels of hotel rooms are resolved in two wings, one of which is single-track (ten rooms to a floor) and the other is in two tracks (fourteen rooms to a floor). On the whole it may be said that this hotel building has by form and function achieved an enviable level of skill and has in its own way met the challenge of the scenery and nature with a relatively simple and satisfactorily solved brief. I’m proud to finally present a project I’ve been working on since 2015: A diorama scene depicting the Battle of Hoth from “Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back”.
My ultimate goal was to present drama and emotion through percieved detail while limiting my polycount as much as possible; Putting weight and motion into each hand-posed character to mimic the feeling one might get looking at a table with wargaming miniatures.
The concept was partially inspired by the Halo 3 “Believe” ad series.
Workflow:
No external textures were used, only vertex color painting and some baking for PBR compatability and reduced file size.
Done 100% in Blender3D.
What I Learned in the Process:
Getting to extensively use vertex painting was one of the most fun aspects of this project. I also gained a lot of experience in basic character modelling, and until now, I had never used Blender’s rigging system.
I gained so much more confidence in Cycles materials, and particle effects as well.
