The equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius is a larger-than-life bronze statue of the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius. Its original site is unknown, but it may have been part of a triumphal arch on whose attic it stood. According to medieval sources, a small barbarian figure kneeling in front of a horse was part of the statue. The dating of the statue, which was originally completely gilded, is disputed and fluctuates between the years around 165 AD with a reference to the triumph over the Parthians in 166 AD, the 170s with a reference to the Marcomannic Wars and a dating only to the time of Commodus' autocratic rule from 180 AD onwards. A cast stands in the city of Tulln an der Donau. 日本愛知縣岡崎市自古以來即以石雕聞名。其中明治、大正年間，岡崎石工店家「酒孫兵衛」製作的狛犬式樣，經同行間不斷地流傳與再創造，進而融匯成晚近日本狛犬最普遍的風貌式樣，而有「岡崎型」分類的說法。
此對狛犬位於岡山壽天宮後方福德祠，為民國七十六年改建時購自花蓮，根據老照片比對，應為原址在今花蓮美崙山忠烈祠、於大正五年 (1916）鎮座的花蓮港神社舊物。其中阿形狛犬足踏繡球，吽形狛犬足搭子犬，圓額闊口，體態渾暢洗練，豎立的尾鬃亦一波三折、飄逸扭動，體現出「岡崎型」狛犬的造型特色。
