A sci-fi holographic computer I made that is loosely based off the IBM 5100. Originally created for Second Life, shown here in Metalness PBR. Textured in Quixel Suite and Photoshop, modeled in Blender with the HardOps plugin.
The hologram is static for now, it normally has an animation (in other engines) but I am still trying to figure out a good way to have both a smooth interpolated rotation of the rings on the bottom and a hard transition of frames on the main screen (only way I can currently think of is to use the frame-by-frame method here but that would require way too much mesh data for smooth rotation). This is the final version of my first 3D assignment for Howest DAE.
I had a lot of fun working on it, especially the texturing, as we were now allowed to use anything like substance painter, marmoset etc. Everything had to either be done in photoshop or maya and we could pretty much only use an albedo and some transparency. It was a challange to get the textures looking good without any roughness or normals, but I think I learned a lot from it.
