As a part of my practice in texturing, I decided to create a scifi armor (a helm), designed by me, and this is my first time creating a scifi model. I used Maya for modeling, and Substance Painter 2 for baking and texturing everything (2k Texture maps), and marmoset toolbag for rendering. With this project I tried to experiment a new workflow. I created my own alphas in maya to create a new brush in Zbrush. It allowed me to put a lot of small details on my helmet. I still wanted to retopo my model in order for it to be real time rendered. The final lowpoly model has exactly 20K tris, and has a single 2K textures

The creative process is as follows:
- a low poly model is made.
- a copy from the low poly is made and made high poly, via a subdivision modifier and a multi-res (not applied), which brings the mesh to over 10 million vertices. This is to ensure detail precision.
- Details are sculpted onto the high poly mesh
- Detail work is baked from high to low poly mesh
- Any colour work is done in texturepaint.
Some minor steps have been learned since the previous upload, namely the simple addition of SubD mod to the high poly mesh before working with the multires, or sculpting metal roughness to give the model more character 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 2756 polygons.
