Sea Monkey was my entry to the Meet Mat 2 Substance Painting contest. I'm not sure what other sea monkeys you might know, but this one is the bravest of them all. I had a lot of fun texturing this exclusively in Substance Painter, as it was a great way to explore displacement + IRAY rendering. I also embraced the power of Painter's anchor system, which made late revisions a breeze- I can't work without them now. After playing some Alien: Isolation I just had to make this model. After a day and a half of work, fueled mainly by hip hop, it is complete.
The face detail is actually all texture work and the face geometry itself is completely flat. I could have used a high-low poly bake but I decided instead to use an alpha and the height map stamping effect in Substance Painter as I was going to be spending a lot of time authoring the texture for the face text anyway I might as well just make an alpha for the imprint (also my laptop would probably just melt if I tried to work with a high poly with enough polygons).

Hey there! This is an old model I decided to finish, i hope you’ll like it. The idea was to make an knight of the Hippotamus order, yes ! i worked with Maya and Zbrush for modeling and rigging. The textures were created with Substance painter. This model was originaly created for CG rendering, explaining the high polycount number.

This rifle is the last weapon of my steampunk series and holds a dominant position in the project. Making the AK was a big challenge as it was tough to keep the look similar to the original gun and also get the steampunk feel overall, the best I could think of doing without altering the look, was to add extra attachments that give it a steampunk look and feel and using a warm colour palette with wear and tear effect on the body, clippers an exception, its brand new, lol!! Although it was a task to achieve the end product, I enjoyed the whole process as its one of my big time favourite assault rifle.
