Unearthed from the underground palace of Leifeng Pagoda in Hangzhou in 2001, it is 68 cm high. The Buddha statue has a high meat bun, spiral hair, slender eyebrows, ears hanging down the shoulders, and three silkworm patterns on the neck. Wearing a double-collared hanging cassock, the hem is covered with a lotus seat. Inside is a monk’s branch, and a silk belt is tied in front of the chest. The left hand caresses the knee, the right hand casts the Dharma seal, and sits on the lotus platform in knotted lotus. Under the lotus pedestal, there are Panlong columns, double-layer Xumizuo and square beds. The coiled dragon goes up around the column, holding up the lotus seat, and the column is embedded in the Xumi seat. There are two flame-style pot doors on each side of Xumizuo. This statue comes from the Forum Boarium in Rome, where it was found during the pontificate of Sixtus IV (1471-1484). The statue likely represented the cult statue whithin the temple dedicated to the Greek hero, and previously thought to be a temple of Vesta (due to its circular form, surrounded by columns). There are significant remains of gilding (gold leaf).
Hercules (Greek: Herakles) holds the Apples of the Hesperides in one hand and his signature club in the other.
The statue is approximately 250 cm tall (~8 ft), displayed atop a tall pedestal, and is slightly reflective due to the gilding, making it difficult to photograph.

A simulated Iron Age roundhouse at the Ryedale Folk Museum, North Yorkshire. Roundhouses are relatively common in the British Bronze and Iron Ages, seemingly representing a standard type of housing in most areas. The style continued to be used even into the sub-Roman period in some cases.
This reconstruction is based on an example excavated at nearby Pickering Quarry. The common features of a roundhouse are the circle of timber posts joined by wattle-and-daub panels, and a roughly 45 degree pitched thatch roof. Here an impressive ‘porch’ feature has been interpreted, most likely used as a windbreak of sorts. 45 degrees was found by experimental archaeologists to be the most efficient design, and surprisingly strong. A hearth burns constantly in the centre, but there is no chimney as an updraft will allow sparks to start a fire, and besides the smoke discourages creatures from eating the thatch.
