Este denario de plata acuñado en Caesaragusta (Zaragoza) en época del emperador Augusto fue hallado de forma casual junto a otras muchas monedas pertenecientes a un tesorillo, que se ocultó a principios del siglo I d.C. En el anverso encontramos la cabeza de Augusto con la inscripción CAESAR AVGVSTVS, y en el reverso un cometa radiado y la inscripción DIVVS IVLIVS (Divino Julio). Este cometa, conocido como “Sidvs Ivlivm” o “Cometa de César” (C/-43 K1), fue visible durante siete días en julio del año 44 a.C. durante la celebración de los “Ludi Victoriae Caesaris”, los juegos funerarios en honor de Julio César, asesinado unos meses antes, hecho que fue interpretado como el ascenso del alma de César a los cielos y su deificación. El cometa de César puede haber sido el cometa con la luz más brillante registrado en la historia. Over eight centuries old, the Bimaristan Nur al-Din, is the earliest surviving site for the development of Islamic medicine. Throughout the building’s lifetime, the site has functioned as a medical school as well as a place of healing in the heart of the old city of Damascus. Built in 1154, the building is characterized by its red brick muqarnas, elaborate entrance block, and finely carved wooden doors. The hospital was in use until the 20th century when it was converted into a Museum of Arabic Medicine and Science. The preservation of the building is a reminder of the major contributions of Islamic medicine to the world today.

This sculpture is the cenotaph (and empty tomb) of Francisco Moltó Valor who was the mayor of the city of Alcoy (Spain) in the year 1876 and an important businessman.
The sculptor was Lorenzo Ridaura (1871-1963) when he was only 27 years old. The work represents the three theological virtues: Faith, Hope and Charity.

De portada plateresca es la fachada del Convento de Dominicas de Santa Catalina de Siena. La misma pertenece a finales del siglo XVI cuando Roma anunció su fundación oficial, ya que el edificio había sido adquirido y fundado “extraoficialmente” como convento años antes por Juana de Mendoza y Zuñiga.
En su parte superior podemos todavía observar en el tímpano del arco restos de las pinturas con la imagen de Santo Domingo, que queda flanqueado por unas columnas de fuste estriado.
En el tímpano antes mencionado se hallaba también la Cruz de Santo Domingo, que sería trasladada de lugar en el siglo XIX.

During the construction of a new riverside wall in 1962 in London, the remains of an interesting ship were found. Dating evidence from the timbers and a coin found in the mast step placed the ship as likely being built, and sunk, during the Roman period, specifically in the 2nd Century CE. However, the ship was constructed in the Celtic tradition.
The reconstruction is based primarily on the excavation report by Peter Marsden published by English Heritage, “Ships of the Port of London – First to eleventh Centuries AD”. It contained detailed drawings of the remains and reconstruction drawings. Where no evidence remained, such as for the sails and the rear of the ship, Roman period iconography and other Roman period shipwrecks from northern Europe were used as inspiration. The sail plan is based of the Torlonia relief, and the nearly intact mast of a Roman period ship found in Bruges, Belgium.
