Cooking Through History: Ancient Rome The portioned segments not only made the bread easier to share and consume, reflecting the communal aspect of Roman meals, but also the efficiency and thoughtfulness in food preparation and distribution. In ancient Rome, white bread was often consumed by the wealthy, while darker bread was typically eaten by the poor. Today, however, darker breads, rich in whole grains, are valued for their health benefits, highlighting a shift in perception where what was once considered lesser is now often deemed healthier. This is the simplest version, separated by a reedstick without rope.

The entire character was created in Blender.
The character is loosely based on Prometheus in Greek mythology. The official description on the project says:

In ancient Greek mythology Ethiopian princess Andromeda was bound to a rock amid the waves of the Red sea. Why? Her mother, Cassiopeia boasted that Andromeda is far more beautifull then all the nymphs of the sea! This angered the god Poseidon who sent a monster creature, Cetus (Ketos) to torment people of ancient Ethiopia. The beautifull princess was to be eaten by a sea moster to soothe the anger of the god! In the very last moment a hero - Perseus flew (on Hermes winged sandals) and saved the princess from the vile beast.
Here is where the official myth ends and my own artistic interpretation of it begins. When researching Andromeda, I could only find white, pale damsels in distress. Angered by this I wanted to depict Andromeda as a true African princess. I disliked the concept of a helpless damsel and decided to give her some character. I also wanted to portray Ketos as a bewildered sea dragon not an angry whale.

They were scanned as part of the 2022 Pompeii Water and Sanitation Project field school run by the University of Missouri. Both fountains are placed in front of an outdoor triclinium and, unusually, are fed by a pair of tanks above the fountain instead of the city aqueduct. On the main face there is a scene in which a priest offers a libation on a tripod before performing the sacrifice of the bull. In the rest of the scenes we find various ritual elements.
