While in India, this bodhisattva is still depicted as a man, in regions further east of Asia he looks like an androgynous, even a woman. Unlike the soberly dressed Buddha, bodhisattvas often wear royal garments, ornaments, crowns and other jewels. This work shows a remarkable necklace enhanced with two entangled dragons.

Betelgeuse is a red supergiant that shines in one of the “shoulders” of the constellation Orion. It is one of the brightest stars in the night sky, located about 640 light-years from us. As shown in this artist’s impression, the ambient environment around Betelgeuse is highly inhomogeneous due material irregularly blown away by the star. In fact, Betelgeuse is in a phase characterized by continuous expansion, and chaotic mass loss from outer layers of its atmosphere. The star is burning heavier and heavier elements in its core following its path to inevitably become a supernova. We don’t know when Betelgeuse will explode. It can be on any random day between now and the next ~100,000 years, very soon in astronomical timescales. When this will happen, the supernova will be the brightest object visible in the night sky for months. Originally the church was built in the second half of the 17th century in the village of Velké Loučky near Mukačevo (today’s Zakarpatska Ukraine). The whole building was made of wood and ranks amongst the most beautiful peasant buildings of this region. The timbered church is more than 14m long and is about 8m in width. The main and also the tallest steeple is over 17m tall.
The village of Velké Loučky sold the church to its richer neighbour village so called Medvedovce in 1793. The building was taken apart and put together again in its new place. The church was given to the Prague City and transferred in 1929. It must have been taken apart again with its individual parts marked with numbers. The parts were then carried on four railway wagons.
