The folding chair (sella curulis) was an important sign of power in Roman times. There were seals with or without a backrest, which folded like scissors, like modern camping chairs, for easy portability. This is my first big character project using Zbrush and Substance Painter. I followed some good advices from Shane Olson’s Youtube courses to achieve what I did here. Making tests to animate the dolphin kick movement, in order to later recreate freediving underwater scenes.
The model and armature were created in makehuman, and animated in blender using keyframes.
As the movement was irregular, I had to use “Smooth keys” operator in the f-curve editor, which gave pretty good results although it reduces the amplitude of the movements.
