This is my second assignment of Second Year Game Art @ De Montfort University. The brief was to create a ‘Bounty Hunter’ character bust with a budget of 18,000 tris. The aim was to create a semi-realistic look by using Zbrush for a more detailed mesh, then retop in 3DS Max and texuture in Substance Painter/Designer. Since our deadline isn’t until the end of the year, I haven’t rendered in UE4 for the hand-in just yet and have used Marmoset Toolbag. I really enjoyed this project - it was a pretty big learning curve for just a few weeks project but I learned a lot of new techniques and had fun bringing my own bounty hunter concept to life! My inspiration was the Witcher 3, but with a bit of stylisation mixed in. A commission of the VPet girl, I had a lot of fun with shape keys this time around and wanted to emphasize the emotions of the poses by focusing on the facial expressions, if you want to pose her you can do so with the duplicate furthest to the right. All in all I’m fairly happy with the end result however It could certainly be more optimized as always, hopefully next time around it’ll improve a bit.
