Large pendant containing a carefully shaped metamorphic stone in a gold case decorated with filigree and granulation.
This object forms part of the Galloway Hoard, the richest collection of rare and unique Viking-age objects ever found in Britain or Ireland. This started as a personal passion project, to preserve a historical record of the famous Sedlec Ossuary bone church in digital form through photography and photogrammetry. It has turned into an epic journey of discovery and importance, working with the assistance of the Sedlec Ossuary Director, and the Sedlec Roman Catholic Parish of Kutná Hora. This will be the most physically and historically accurate representation of the ossuary ever created, from measurements, blueprints, photoscanning, and historic records.
The Sedlec Ossuary is located in the town of Kutna Hora in the Czech Republic, which is a recognized UNESCO World Heritage site. The ossuary was decorated with the bones of over 60,000 humans 150 years ago, in a stunning artistic display that isn’t replicated in any ossuary or catacomb in the world. The Sedlec Ossuary is also currently undergoing extensive, unprecedented renovations to help preserve it for future generations to enjoy.

My daughter found a dead hornet (Vespa crabro) body in our warehouse, and I decided to give this scan a try.
A couple of years ago, hornets made a nest in our yard, and it was pretty much impossible to walk around and not bump your head into one of these.
In terms of scans, the wings are the hardest parts, I’ve remodelled parts of them in Blender, but the work is far from finished.
I’m impressed with what Metashape did with the scanned material.
