This is a church built somewhere around year 1100. The building material is sand stone and wood. The church has been built on top of 1,5 meters of previous “cultural building remains”
Through annual ring dating on wooden beams over the nave, it has been found that these trees were felled in 1136. The church is built in Romanesque style with the tower to the west.
(Notation 1 on the model) An inscription engraved above the entrance on the west side states that “Othelrik me fecit”, which means: Othelric has made me. This architect and stonemason is believed to have come from northern Germany and was one of the foremost of the 12th century in Västgötland.

Every single asset used in this environment comes from that pack. It uses 4 different materials (five if we count the water, as it was separated for manual opacity control), each one with Albedo, Roughness, Normal, AO, Metallic and Opacity maps. Most textures (Environment, People and Market) are 1024x1024, and the one cotaining all the buildings is 2048x2048. Also, most of the details are contained on the normal map, resulting in a low poly count. Even if the scene reaches over 500k polys, keep in mind the size of the city.
As for this scene, it has been something I’ve wanted to create for so many years, and I finally decided to make it with the pack. It even works as an UE4 level. Inside, a large 3-nave church was built in an artistic style that mixes elements of Romanesque, Gothic and influences of Islamic art. This mixture of styles, but also of constructive and decorative techniques, make the church of Calatrava La Nueva a unique place.
