  The Rose 3D Model 2023-11-04
A one-day project. I've had this idea for a mournful hand clasping a rose for a while, but it never felt complete. Adding the pendant and chain I felt really added the needed story to really bring the piece together. Hand model was from MakeHuman, all else I modelled in Blender. Textures were done in Substance Painter, then brought back into Blender 2.79 for rendering using the Principled BSDF for most surfaces, except the topaz crystal heart, which was done with my own custom absorption glass shader. My newest model based on Khoa Viet concept art. I made this for the Artstation Untamed Challenge! I chose not to include a stand for this one and instead just kept it alone. I also decided not to pose the back legs up in the air because it looked very odd without some spiderweb. The final model ended up with 38,065 faces and 71,689 triangles. I used two 4K maps, One for the upper body and the Pipe and the other one for the spider legs and butt. This was created as part of Ashleigh Warners’ ‘Creating Stylized Game Assets’ course available through CGMA. I completed my first draft last November, but I went back over it and made as many changes as possible to get it to a place I felt confident in sharing. This is MEEPO, or the Mega Express Espresso Processing Operator 3000. The initial idea was to have this retro-futuristic coffee-station diorama that sold a particular kind of mundane story (even if it was in a sort of space-setting).
