The Lion Throne This is my personal project for Burmese collection. The Lion Throne (also known as Sihasana or Thihathana Palin; Burmese: သီဟသနပလ္လင်, derived from Sanskrit: सिंहासन, romanized: siṃhāsana, lit. ‘lion’s seat, throne’) is one of the eight historic thrones used by the Burmese monarchs. Seven of them were destroyed by fire during the allied bombing of World War II, but the Lion Throne was saved, because the throne was transported to India in 1885 after the Third Anglo-Burmese War, and later returned. There are 2 hook and eye fastenings on the collar of the jacket with 5 metal buttons running down the right-hand side of the jacket. There are 2 pockets on either breast fastened with a plain button. On the top of either sleeve is a Cornwall badge in red, and directly brlow is a blue patch with a yellow dragon detailing. There is a slight spot of discoloration on the bottom of the breast pocket on the right- this almost looks like some sort of bleach stain. Inside the jacket is a label that reads “Battledress Blouses, Serge. Size no 6.” And the date stamp is June 1942.
