Elle tient dans la main droite un éventail et ses cheveux sont relevés en chignon. Elle se tient légèrement cambrée, la main gauche posée sur la taille. La statuette repose sur un socle où apparaissent des motifs végétaux (herbes, cailloux).
Le sujet dénote, avec un léger décalage, le succès de la mode japonisante à la fin du 19e siècle.

Il s’agirait d’une évocation d’un des épisodes les plus célèbres de la mythologie gréco-romaine : le quatrième des douze travaux d’Hercule. Après avoir capturé vivant le terrifiant sanglier d’Érymanthe sur l’ordre du roi Eurysthée, le demi-dieu armé de sa massue ramène à la cour l’animal sauvage vaincu comme preuve de sa victoire en portant sa lourde charge sur son dos.
