The most unique proposal in the AAFSS competition came from the San Diego division of Convair. The Model 49 did not fit the normal mold for either an airplane or a helicopter, and represented something entirely new. Propulsive power came from turbine engines driving counterrotating propellers within the shroud. Convair believed that the system was inherently more reliable than a conventional helicopter, and pointed out the only pilot control inputs involved directional control and setting rotor blade angle and engine speed. The crew of two occupied an articulating capsule on top of the shroud and was provided with a full array of sensors. The Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) is a United States Air Force (USAF) sixth-generation fighter initiative with a goal of fielding a “family of systems” that is to eventually supersede the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor. A manned fighter aircraft is the centerpiece program of the initiative and has been referred to as the F-X or Penetrating Counter-Air (PCA) and is to be supported by unmanned “Loyal Wingman” platforms.
This is my concept of NGAD prime (1st concept) with manned fighter supported by AI piloted drone swarms. Rudder is deployed only for landing and low speed maneuvers. Smooth line and sharp edges lower radar echo and make this fighter stealth.

I have been wanting to do this for a while because I always thought it was facinating how much this painting already looked like a lowpoly 3d scene! I’ve also always been a fan of the aesthetic of the Futurist movement.
I finally sat down to do this because I realized that this would be perfect for this month’s lowpoly challenge, seeing as Futurism was an art movement that portrayed utopian visions of a high tech future. So with that in mind, this is my second entry to the UtopiaLPChallenge, this one being in the pastel color scheme rather then the neon one like my first submission. I would have used a longer chain of buildings to be more faithful to the original work, but wanted to ensure that I remained within the 2000 triangle limit (final count for scene is 1964 tris) of the challenge.
