The present fountain was built to replace the original fountain that was destroyed in 1376 by the command of Pope Urbano V. This was the result of an incident that occurred involving this fountain and the papal party returning from Avignon. A local woman objected when a servant of one of the cardinals decided to wash his dog in the fountain thereby polluting the drinkable water. A fight ensued during which the woman was killed and the pope subsequently punished the locals by destroying their fountain. The present fountain of Pianoscarano was built in 1376 replacing the original one. This fountain is also decorated with lions, the symbol of Viterbo.

Las antefijas o imbrices extremi son elementos decorativos que desde época arcaica se usaban en las extremidades de los ímbrices que unían las tegulas de marmol o barro cocido en los tejados de los edificios.
Las antefijas se realizaban habitualmente mediante molde, y se ha propuesto a Gracurris (Alfaro) como posible taller de origen de los siete ejemplares rescatados en Turiaso, dada la recurrencia en dicho taller de los motivos representados en ellas.
Si bien este tipo de piezas solían ubicarse en edificios públicos, hemos de reseñar que los ejemplares procedentes de Turiaso son el resultado de su rescate en intervenciones de urgencia en diversos lugares del actual casco urbano: Calle Barrio Verde, Calle Gutierrez Tapia, Casa de la Vicaria y Pradiel, distantes entre sí, no conformando una aparente zona edilicia.

I have been wanting to do this for a while because I always thought it was facinating how much this painting already looked like a lowpoly 3d scene! I’ve also always been a fan of the aesthetic of the Futurist movement.
I finally sat down to do this because I realized that this would be perfect for this month’s lowpoly challenge, seeing as Futurism was an art movement that portrayed utopian visions of a high tech future. So with that in mind, this is my second entry to the UtopiaLPChallenge, this one being in the pastel color scheme rather then the neon one like my first submission. I would have used a longer chain of buildings to be more faithful to the original work, but wanted to ensure that I remained within the 2000 triangle limit (final count for scene is 1964 tris) of the challenge.
