Here’s my latest project, a Smith & Wesson 66-8 .357 Revolver. This has a good amount of parts to it, so to have everything bake out right I had to bake by mesh name. I learned two things - that baking by mesh name is case sensitive, and trying to use an .fbx before it’s fully exported just doesn’t work. It corrupts your exported file. Just so you know.
With the textures, I used a combination of materials and masks to mimic dirt, grime, and soot from repeated use. I had to make about 7 alphas for all the height details.
I had to adjust some materials so it’d read better as metal instead of stone, as well as adjusting the damage information and swapping out some normals that I wasn’t satisfied with. Time to call this model finished for now. I learned quite a bit from making this thing, time to apply what I know now to something new 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 10040 polygons.

The Smith & Wesson Model 61, also called the Escort or Pocket Escort, is a self-defense pistol that was produced from 1970 to 1973. It is a five-shot (plus one in the chamber) semi-automatic recoil-operated pistol firing the .22 Long Rifle cartridge. They came in two variations, blued with faux-wood grips and nickel-plated with faux-ivory grips.
The pistol has been mainly forgotten except for its inclusion in the 1976 film “Taxi Driver” by Martin Scorsese. Robert De Niro’s character, Travis Bickle, creates a quick-draw device that he uses during the shoot-out at the end of the film.
