The Smith & Wesson Model 61, also called the Escort or Pocket Escort, is a self-defense pistol that was produced from 1970 to 1973. It is a five-shot (plus one in the chamber) semi-automatic recoil-operated pistol firing the .22 Long Rifle cartridge. They came in two variations, blued with faux-wood grips and nickel-plated with faux-ivory grips. The pistol has been mainly forgotten except for its inclusion in the 1976 film “Taxi Driver" by Martin Scorsese. Robert De Niro's character, Travis Bickle, creates a quick-draw device that he uses during the shoot-out at the end of the film. Kimber Custom Tactical Law Enforcement Rail II (TLE/RL II). This is the same handgun that’s used by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics team, which entered service from 2002 to present. Since around the 2010s, LAPD SWAT has upgraded their Kimbers to have a picatinny rail frame, which allowed the mounting of flashlights. The SureFire x300 series remain their main flashlight attachment of choice.
Interestingly, LAPD SWAT Kimbers feature custom engraved markings on the slide and has a special serial number “KLA114XXX”. KLA stands for “Kimber Los Angeles”, 114 is the police radio SWAT code, and XXX are the 3 unique serial numbers.

The MK 235 cassette recorder (sometimes referred to as “ZRK MK 235” or “MK 235 Automatic”) was manufactured in 1976-1978. The portable cassette recorder, positioned on the boundary of popular and standard product classes, was designed to record sound and play back recordings. Its design was based on the licensed C-235 model by Grundig. It incorporated transistors and an integrated circuit. The MK 235 is powered from an AC source or batteries (five R14 type batteries). Operation time using batteries is about 14 hours. The tape recorder is designed to play cassettes at a tape speed of 4.75 cm/s. The aesthetics of the device are minimalistic, dominated by the geometry of its overall shape. Its form is livened up by the rounding of its edges, using geometric shapes and grooves to divide the planes.
