The damage on the model symbolizes the negative impact on Earth but still holds hope in the form of the pod accepting the plant. I focused in on subtle details that are symbolic for these current issues such as: dented & bent metal, the burning lines ( Earth’s rising core temperatures), the cracked glass (depletion of the Ozone Layer) and, the black malice at the figure’s base (oil spills in our bodies of water). The last week I have been working on it again, one of the advantages of working in digital 3d. I changed a lot of things in posture, sizes and shape, most of them subtle but more in line with what an African Elephant looks like. This version of the model is an intermediate sized model. I could go down to the lowest polygon version, but I think this is a good compromize between ease of use and actual details displayed. And as you can see I used the posibilities of the viewer to give it a look and feel that matches the grandeur of a great African elephant bul. P.S. The model has Dept of Field (DoF). If you click on a part of the elephant it will go into focus and the rest blurs. The form overall is fairly simple, but I had some difficulty with this mostly from the dificulty in finding consistent references, even with official art from both the OVA and original series of Hellsing and snipits from the Manga, this gun has a lot of subtle inconsistencies. One such inconsistency is the squareness of the slide. I had seen official art where the slide takes on a shape more similar to a 1911 pistol, but in other art and in the OVA, the slide appears more square and in some cases even appears to have plates on the side and top. So some details I tried going for a middle ground of the differences I had come across.
