This piece is likely from the later period of this site and is associated with the farmers who worked the fields to supply the Temple Complex of Mendes (the Ram-headed diety.

This piece was probably created during the equivalent Late Archaic time period in the SW USA. Archaic hunter gatherers had not yet made the transition to agriculture, had no written language and no pottery.

I uploaded the sword alone previously and planned to upload its sheath separately, but eventually decided put them together so it can have a complete showcase as a set. Both high res model and all the details made in Zbrush, painted the texture in substance painter. The animal on the sheath at first was just flat shapes with no details on it, and I thought I finished the model. Later on I looked at it again and again, eventually decided I should add more details and to make the animal figures more alive and to give them more characters, since this was a sword made for Paraoh’s battles, it just has to have that spirit. Painting the texture was another challenge since there are just so many details on the original antique. Made this piece with a heart of awe, and it was a great learning experience!
