Hypacrosaurus was a genus of duckbill dinosaur similar in appearance to Corythosaurus. Like Corythosaurus, it had a tall, hollow rounded crest, although not as large and straight. It is known from the remains of two species that spanned 75 to 67 million years ago in the Late Cretaceous and is the latest hollow-crested duckbill known from good remains in North America. Infant Hypacrosaurs belongs to The Children's Museum of Indianapolis. This fossil was 3D scanned with a Creaform Go! SCAN Spark, and a Creaform MetraSCAN Black Elite by Connections XR. I made this model in 2016, to practice modeling shapes and creating procedural materials. It was decent work at the time, but I revisited it in 2022 to give it a proper mesh/material cleanup and see how much I could improve it. This is the result!
Some of it could definitely still take a little more attention, but overall I’m happy with where it ended up. It’s a cool ode to the infamous Piranha Plant from Super Mario Bros.
