Ce genre d’enseigne mesure généralement autour de 45 cm de hauteur. Sa forme représente la façon dont était vendu le tabac à l’origine : les feuilles étaient enroulées en forme de carotte et étaient ensuite rappées pour faire du tabac à pipe par exemple.
Ce modèle a été fait dans le cadre d’un projet de reconstitution en temps réel d’un village charentais au début du XIXème siècle.
Model inspired by real signs of french tobacco shops, dated to the 19th century.
This type of sign is generally 45 cm high. Its shape represents the way tobacco was originally sold: the leaves were rolled up into a carrot shape and then rapped to make pipe tobacco, for example.
This model was made as part of a real-time reconstruction project of a Charente village at the beginning of the 19th century.
