In the early days of the RISD Nature Lab, founder, Edna Lawrence, would source fresh chicken feet from a local butcher in Providence and allow students to manipulate the the malleable specimens to better inform their anatomical illustrations. Many former students still vividly remember how Ms. Lawrence would pull on the exposed tendons of a chicken foot to demonstrate how it would still engage the digits. Though shocking to some, her characteristic hands-on approach to learning nurtured curisoity and understanding in her students. Virgil Ablohs take on the Nike Dunk first debuted in 2019, A reimagined tongue coupled with bright, Flywire lacing helped this shoe to stand out and cement its place in the storied legacy of the Nike Dunk. This colourway boasts red leather accented by a smooth grey leather.
Every detail was made in the recreation of this shoe, from the text on the medial side of the shoe to the subtlety of each material, nothing went overlooked.
