Sea Monkey was my entry to the Meet Mat 2 Substance Painting contest. I'm not sure what other sea monkeys you might know, but this one is the bravest of them all. I had a lot of fun texturing this exclusively in Substance Painter, as it was a great way to explore displacement + IRAY rendering. I also embraced the power of Painter's anchor system, which made late revisions a breeze- I can't work without them now. This is a vintage sewing machine from 1960s standing at my living room. My grandma sewed clothes on it, and it is still working!
I like the complexicity of its materials and great design of shapes that reminds of old 60s cars.
Full scene contains 10.5k triangles and the machine has two texture sets of 4k and 2k PBR maps. As game asset it can be more optimised, but I wanted to give it more detailed look and to practice on complex surfaces, like grainy paint.
