A sci-fi holographic computer I made that is loosely based off the IBM 5100. Originally created for Second Life, shown here in Metalness PBR. Textured in Quixel Suite and Photoshop, modeled in Blender with the HardOps plugin.
The hologram is static for now, it normally has an animation (in other engines) but I am still trying to figure out a good way to have both a smooth interpolated rotation of the rings on the bottom and a hard transition of frames on the main screen (only way I can currently think of is to use the frame-by-frame method here but that would require way too much mesh data for smooth rotation). The device presented here consists of a high voltage generator connected to a Tesla transformer built into a handle, which serves as the grip for the replaceable glass electrode. The electrodes were filled with an inert gas, usually neon or argon. In operation, the gas shone violet, blue, or pink. The user massaged the skin with the electrode, causing a flow of high frequency alternating current through the body. When the electrode was held close to the skin the patient felt tingling, and when in contact with the skin - warmth. Electrotherapy devices were very popular in the 1920s and 1930s.
