That’s my Winchester model 12 Trenchun. I modeled it as a fully operational Game asset. Model doesn’t have rigg but it’s fully modelled inside so it could work as a fpp or tpp model. The rifle in particular have ~4600 faces, bayonet ~900 and shell ~140. Im not completely satisfied with textures but I think this is best i can do (especially wood, damn That’s best wood I ever made). I created this model based on references from the actual movie props and some amazingly faithful replicas.
The geometry is relatively light weight for use in game engines. The counter animation is geometry based, so it can be used dynamically and adressed by code.
Complete with 4K PBR textures.
My motivation for this piece came from rewatching the Aliens movies. I took this as an opportunity to learn Substance Painter and figure out how to bake maps for a more complex model like this.
It’s also always interesting to learn a few things about design in general and about the object you’re researching in specific.
When researching references it helped me to find out that parts of this design are based on real life rifles like the “M1A1 Thompson” and the “Spas 12” shotgun 3D Model is ready to download for free, this model contains 7959 polygons.
