I was aiming for a Warcraft look (as in Frozen Throne, not necessarily WoW) with limited resolution hand painted textures.
Glow FX were originally done as billboard planes, flickering was achieved by randomly rescaling them; the little bat and moving candle flames were animated by shifting UV - as these techniques are currently unavailable on Sketchfab I edited them out and left a static model with no billboard tracking. After a year and half, I finally textured this…on a request of a sketchfab member.
My original intention was just to texture it but I realized the topology in certain areas were just abysmal.
I fixed the topology, added new details, and removed uncessary details. At the end, I still haven’t made a exact of the artwork but I got at lot right at 12k less tris than my previous one.
