This is a project for the Academy of Art University's 3D Modeling for Games course. It's also as historically accurate a “viking" house recreation as I could make, rather than going with the Hollywood take. The loom, grindstone and hnef tavl game board I am particularly proud of. It's a game ready asset at this point, although I would like higher resolution textures if I ever use it for anything (the course limited texture size.) This is a complete guide on how we created this stylized viking asset. We used a mix of Blender, Zbrush, and Topogun for the modeling section. The model was then textured in Substance painter and finally rendered in Blender 3 with the help of the compositor.
This is the Blend.file That contains everything we created in our YouTube video. This is a packed Blend file and has been cleaned up. This makes sure there are no unnecessary files, materials, etc. Everything in the Blend.file is also organized into collections and named correctly.
