A los hombres y mujeres del Paleolítico superior les gustaba mucho adornarse. Uno de los elementos de adorno personal más típicos del período denominado Magdaleniense medio (hace unos 16 000 años) es el contorno recortado, como este localizado en la Galería Inferior de la cueva de La Garma. Se elaboraban aprovechando el hueso hioides de caballos y ciervos, que ofrece una buena “pre-forma“ para este tipo de objetos. En su extremo más ancho, el hueso se recortaba y después, mediante grabado y perforación, se configuraba un colgante en forma de cabecita de caballo, de rebeco o, como en este caso, de cabra montés. Figura humana sentada. La cabeza, simple prolongación de un largo cuello, se halla desprovista de rasgos faciales. El único brazo conservado se reduce a un muñón, que parecen representar sólo el bíceps. Las piernas, cruzadas, se adelantan formando un anillo. La pieza, totalmente pintada de rojo, está bruñida. Desde su descubrimiento en el año 1970, permaneció expuesta en la propia Cueva Pintada y tras el cierre de la misma en el año 1982, se depositó en las casas consistoriales del Ayuntamiento de Gáldar, hasta que en el año 2006 pasó a formar parte del colección permanente del Museo y Parque Arqueológico Cueva Pintada.

Se trata de una pieza singular: un contorno recortado de una cabeza de cabra realizado en hueso. Presenta unas dimensiones de 6‘19 cm de ancho y 2‘35 cm de alto.
Fue hallado en la cueva de La Garma (superficie zona IV de la galería inferior), en Omoño, Cantabria.
Su datación concluye que pertenece al Paleolítico Superior, periodo Magdaleniense, aproximadamente 14050 B.P.
