A sci-fi holographic computer I made that is loosely based off the IBM 5100. Originally created for Second Life, shown here in Metalness PBR. Textured in Quixel Suite and Photoshop, modeled in Blender with the HardOps plugin.
The hologram is static for now, it normally has an animation (in other engines) but I am still trying to figure out a good way to have both a smooth interpolated rotation of the rings on the bottom and a hard transition of frames on the main screen (only way I can currently think of is to use the frame-by-frame method here but that would require way too much mesh data for smooth rotation). Hard surface project I did from a concept of Sheng Lam.
In this project, I tried to make the result to be as close as possible as the concept and the most realistic possible as well.
For the parts that are not in the concept, I tried to match the general style of the whole with details that still are hard surface and color matching with the drawing.
The walkman is 33k polys and the tapes are 17k polys (3 to 5k polys each) for a total of 55k polys.
