There is no complete dodo skeleton left, nevertheless the NHM Vienna owns one of the most complete skeletons. Dodos lived exclusively on the islands of Mauritius and Reunion. The last dodo probably went extinct about 1690. The dodo is Number 80 of the NHM Top 100 and can be found in Hall 31 of the NHM Vienna. My submission for a past Sketchwars theme: redo a classic…
My thought is that something went astray with the Thunderbird between 1963 and 1967. My 3D sketch is a proposal for a different aesthetic bridge between the lovely 1963 body style and the somewhat radical departure of 1967. This took 4 hours to do, completely done in 3D while immersed in VR using Gravity Sketch. I had 2D reference pictures in the scene, but all the ideation of the forms was done in 3D.
This is a non-traditional medium (skipping 2D) so I did a bunch of tweaking with post process effects to give it a more grainy textured paper/punchy colors/rendered look … minus the dabs of white gouache for highlights!
