In the 1950s, LeTourneau Inc. developed several overland trains, essentially oversized semi-trailer trucks that could travel over almost any terrain. Their intention was to be able to handle logistics needs without being dependent on local road or rail systems, allowing them to operate in back-country areas. The US Army had three experimental units built, the largest reaching almost 600 feet (183 m) long, which holds the record for the longest off-road vehicle. The Mark II had a much larger six-wheeled cab that was over 30 feet (9.1 m). The turbine engine was much smaller than the diesel it replaced, allowing the interior to support a crew of six with sleeping quarters, toilets and a galley. It was even equipped with a radar. I saw this Train Engine once and was impressed by its sheer scale so much that I just had to model it.
I collected some reference material and started working on it, draw inspiration from a similar works from the game Metro Exodus
This work helped me get a deeper understanding of the Game pipeline.Followed all the necessary steps to fulfill the workflow of the actual video AAA game’s industry pipeline. I was responsible for creating the high poly ,low poly , uv’s and the PBR Texturing. had a great time to create this asset . Hope you like it !!!! Cheers

Though it ended up a bit too polygon-heavy, I am still happy how this turned out. My main difficulty was to render out curvature maps for the rust and scratch effects in Substance painter, but Xnormal does a good enough job after some tweaking around in Substance Painter.
This is a model based off of Joe Petagno’s cover art for the 1986 album “Orgasmatron” by Motörhead. Petagno is the original artist behind Motörheads famous boar-like figurehead and the guy behind their album art. He has also created Led Zeppelins famous Icarus character and artwork for many other bands of different genres, even covers for sci-fi books.

It is one of my favorite album covers, and it captures what rock and metal should be, an fast and heavy rock and roll train coming out the speakers and through your brains.
It was a great expericence to finally see the band live at Hellfest 2015.
