Carved by the sculpture Praxiteles in the fourth Century B.C. from fine marble, the original sculpture, which is no longer extant, enjoyed great reknown as the first devotional statue of a female goddess in the . After causing an immediate sensation when it was installed in a sacred precint on the island of Knidos, it inspired many re-creations over the succeding centuries. This particular copy was placed outdoors; the badly marred surface is the result of prolonged exposure to the elements” 1981.11(?)

This model has been made in Zbrush with textures added in Substance Painter. The model is based on a find at Broughton Roman villa during a Time Team excavation. The find was very corroded as you would expect and I wondered what it might have looked like when in use. I have used images of other similar coins for reference and created this model showing how it might have looked - with perhaps a bit of wear.

This is my first big character project using Zbrush and Substance Painter. I followed some good advices from Shane Olson’s Youtube courses to achieve what I did here. There is a lot to improve, however the process of learning how to block-up a character, how to build a concept and how to use all Zbrush tools and resources has been an amazing journey.
I’m thrilled for starting something new and keep learning good stuff!
