The innermost coffin of three of Yuya from his tomb in Egypt’s Valley of the Kings (KV46). The tomb was discovered in 1905 by James Quibell and contained the partially looted burials of Yuya and his wife Thuya of the 18th Dynasty. Yuya and Thuya were non-royal nobles and the parents of Queen Tiye who was the Great Royal Wife of Amenhotep III and mother of Akhenaten. The coffin is currently in the Egyptain Museum, Cairo, Egypt. Created from 177 photographs (Canon EOS Rebel T5i) using Metashape 1.5.5. The base of the coffin was unavailable for scanning and has been reconstructed using Meshmixer 3.5 with texture touched up using Blender 2.8 Texture Painting. I uploaded the sword alone previously and planned to upload its sheath separately, but eventually decided put them together so it can have a complete showcase as a set. Both high res model and all the details made in Zbrush, painted the texture in substance painter. The animal on the sheath at first was just flat shapes with no details on it, and I thought I finished the model. Later on I looked at it again and again, eventually decided I should add more details and to make the animal figures more alive and to give them more characters, since this was a sword made for Paraoh’s battles, it just has to have that spirit. Painting the texture was another challenge since there are just so many details on the original antique. Made this piece with a heart of awe, and it was a great learning experience!
