Afther watching the northman i realy got into viking age stuff again. So i made a helmet losely based on a lot of pictures i found so its not realy historicaly accurate. The chainmail and engraving is modeled for a change so that was quite a challange. This is a re-creation of the new imperial sentinel figurine from w40k made by games workshop based on the first images made pre-release.
This asset was modelled, sculpted, rigged and animated in blender, textured/baked in substance painter.

In order to record the relevant measurements of the mail rings, we used a list of parameters. This list includes 11 parameters for a riveted ring and four parameters for a solid ring. The Skuldelev ships are a group of five well preserved 11th century ships from the Viking period, found in the Roskilde Fjord in Denmark near the town of Skuldelev. Skuldelev 2 was a large ocean going longship, a war vessel probably known as a Skeid - the type of vessel also known in the sagas as “dragon ships”. From analyzing the wood of the ship archaeologists were able to determine the ship had been built in Ireland around the 1040’s CE, the furthest away of all the Skuldelev ships. This digital recreation is based on the ‘The Sea Stallion from Glendalough’, a full scale reconstruction made by the Roskilde Viking Ship Museum.
